Federal Laws and Regulations that Apply to Celiac Disease in Learning Environments

Several federal laws apply to children with celiac disease in learning environments. This video describes these laws and how they apply to developing a celiac disease management plan.

Learning Objectives: Participants will be able to:

  1. Identify celiac disease as a condition that qualifies for accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
  2. Explain the differences between a 504 Plan, Individual Health Plan, and an Individual Education Plan and how each may be used to document accommodations for a child with celiac disease.
  3. Describe three accommodations for a child with celiac disease that would qualify under these laws.
